Residences and grounds

Il Mulino di Castelvecchio is a beautifully renovated and uniquely decorated sixteenth century stone mill which is able to provide accomodation for up to 15 guests. A mere 45 km from Florence, 42 km from Pisa and 26 km from Lucca Il Mulino di Castelvecchio is ideally located in northern Tuscany in a peaceful rural area near the city of Montecatini, making it a perfect Tuscan vacation destination.

The property consists of three separate guest buildings; the large main house “Il Mulino” (the old mill) and two other small stone houses, "La Vicinale" and "Il Torrente" as well as a modern swimming pool, all situated in the peaceful surroundings of the Cesana river valley and four acres of forest. Three beautiful wrought iron entrance gates allow our guests different points of entry/exit to the entirely fenced grounds (including the parking area). The unique configuration of the guest houses enables our guests to enjoy either their privacy and/or group gatherings. Il Mulino is an ideal choice for several couples, or families, or larger family groups who wish to vacation together in a superbly furnished "home away from home". Both La Vicinale and Il Torrente are the perfect size for a romantic escape for a vacationing couple, or a delightful retreat for a couple with a small child.

Each house has satellite television, stereo/cd player and the possibility of telephone/internet connection. As well, each house has its own enchanting private patio area(s) which are surrounded by gardens and set-up with table, chairs and barbeque offering guests a choice of enjoying their meals indoors or outdoors. An inviting swimming pool and terraced sun bathing area have been uniquely situated within the beautiful, ancient rock walls of the former mill pond, offering a warm, tranquil point of refreshment for all of our guests. On the lower terrace level from the pool, also for the use of all of our guests, is another large barbeque and a lovely shady gathering/eating area over looking the river.

The adjacent river area is also enchanting as the property is at the fork of two streams, both which have waterfalls generating an ambiance to soothe and delight all the senses. The small waterfalls, pools, creek areas and sandy landings along the river are able to provide days of exploration for children and adults alike. Not only a safe and ideal location for youngsters' “fishing” escapades, frog hunts, rock throwing and stone skipping contests, the river area offers adults fantastic material for amateur and professional photography, as well as sun dappled shady hideouts for peaceful relaxing on hot mid-summer Tuscan afternoons .
