Coming from the direction of Lucca on "Autostrada A11" Pisa-Firenze.
1/ Exit the Autostrada at the "Chiesina Uzzanese" exit.
2/ After the exit there is a toll booth, pay toll.
3/ Immediately after the toll gate, turn left following the road sign, "Buggiano".
4/ In 200 meters there is a traffic circle. Following the road sign, "Buggiano", take the third exit from the traffic circle.
5/ The directions continue below at step 6.
Coming from the direction of Firenze on "Autostrada A11" Firenze-Pisa.
1/ Exit the Autostrada at the "Chiesina Uzzanese" exit.
2/ After the exit there is a toll booth, pay toll.
3/ Immediately after the toll gate turn left following the road sign, "Altopascio".
4/ This road leads onto a bridge that passes over the Autostrada. Immediately after the bridge, take the first left. (The road curves back in the direction towards the Autostrada).
5/ In 200 meters from the point that you pass another set of highway tolls on your left, you will reach a traffic circle.

6/ At the traffic circle, following the road sign, "Buggiano", take the third exit from the traffic circle.
7/ Shortly after the traffic circle the road will go through an underpass below the Autostrada. Follow this main road for 4 km in the direction of "Borgo a Buggiano" to the next stop sign.
8/ At the stop sign turn left and continue 100 meters to the traffic circle.
9/ At the traffic circle, following the signs, "Buggiano" and "Uzzano", take the 3rd exit from the traffic circle.
10/ In 200 meters from the traffic circle, at the first stop lights that you reach, continue straight through. You are now entering the town of "Borgo a Buggiano". Follow this main street, "Corso Indipendenza" through the town.
11/ In 500 meters from the stop light, near the end of the town, follow the sign, "Pescia-Collodi", keeping to the right at the fork in the road.
12/ In 100 meters after the fork, turn right at the next intersection. At this corner, you should see an old yellow chapel in front of you.
13/ In a very short distance from the intersection, the road will pass under a railway bridge. In 400 meters along this secton of very winding road, turn left just before an old brick bridge following the road signs, "Buggiano" and "Colle E Massa". This provincial road is SP 29 and is called "Colligana".
14/ Continue for 3 km on the "Colligana" road as it winds and climbs into the hills and first passes the village "Castello di Buggiano" (at 0.8 km on your left) and then passes the village, "Colle di Buggiano", (at 2.3 km on your left).
15/ Slow down as you near the 3 km point along the "Colligana" road as the left turn onto the road for Il Mulino di Castelvecchio has no road sign. The two land marks for the road "Via di Castelvecchio" are;
a) on the right side of the road and 10 meters past the "Via di Castelvecchio" road turn off there is a painting of a Madonna under a tiled roof, and
b) on the left side of the "Colligana" road just before the "Via di Castelvecchio" road, there is an off-white house flanked by a high ivy covered wall.
Proceed slowly down "Via di Castelvecchio" as it is a very steep and narrow, one lane road.
16/ Follow only the asphalt road for about 300 meters. At 100 meters stay left (do not turn onto the gravel road). At 300 meters stay right (do not turn onto the cobblestone road). At this 300 meter point you will see a sign for "Il Mulino di Castelvecchio".
17/ Continue about 50 meters down the asphalt road past the sign and turn left into the white gravel parking lot of Il Mulino di Castelvecchio.
